The Project Component

The Project implementation consists of three phases, namely:

1. Baseline survey and community planning
2. Community project implementation
3. Policy advocacy

The baseline survey consists of data gathering at household, community and national level. As a follow-up phase, community projects that would address food security will be identified and implemented based primarily on the community planning and baseline survey outcome. Policy advocacy, another major component is a continuing process throughout the Project. Food security monitoring, process documentation, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) processes and case studies will be undertaken across Project phases and will form part of the policy advocacy component of the Project. Major policy advocacy venues are the national and regional summits and conferences such as the World Food Summit, November 2001, WTO/AoA, and World Summit on Sustainable Development, 2002, among others.
